Carl Dean

Carl Thomas Dean, Dolly's husband, was born on July 20, 1942. Carl met Dolly while he was riding around Nashville in a white Chevy pickup truck. The first time he saw Dolly, he just threw his hand up. That wasn't enough for him though. He drove back around, and this time stopped and got out of his truck and went to talk to Dolly. This all happened at the Wishy Washy Laudormat back in 1964. In 1966, Carl told Dolly that she was either going to have to move to the other side of town, or they were going to have to get married. After telling Carl that she wasn't going to wash dishes, clean up, and that she was still going after her dream to be a country singer, she agreed to get married. On May 30, 1966, Dolly and Carl were married in a church in Ringold, Georgia. Their trips to Ringold, and their honeymoon is definantely interesting! Not wanting to spoil some of the best parts of Dolly's book, I'm going to let you all read to find out what happened! Carl and Dolly are still married to this day, and I have to admit that I'm a big Carl fan. Pictures of Carl can be found in Dolly's autobiography, on her album, My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy, and in the book Dolly By Judith McPasternak. If you have any questions about Carl, feel free to ask me! I would be glad to answer those! Please send them to se1954@surry.net or fill out the letters to the webmaster form!
