Chris Alaimo

I studied music from age five and by age 17 I composed music for a local documentary. I also composed music for a national PBS production of a one act play called "Last Waltz On a Tightrope". I had a record out back in the 80s called "Modern Day Woman" released on Rising Sun Records (Purple Haze Music BMI). I continued my studies up to age 27 at Wilkes University. My greatest influences were probobly Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Bartok, Druckman and Copland. I write mostly 20th century classical and minimalist styles, but quite a bit of traditional tonal music also. So how did I wind up a drummer? Playing country? Oldies? Rock? Jazz? Everything but what I studied? My main instrument had been piano since age 5, at 9 I studied guitar and bass, but at 13 I got hooked on the drums and I continued them as my second instument. Even through my Classical studies at college I had the most fun playing rock or country (Jazz and funk are REALLY a blast to play). Anyway, A wrist injury finally pretty much finished my keyboard playing so drums became my main. Oh I still compose, but nobody cares!!! At least with the drums I can communicate to and audience and express something that they like (I hope), plus I just flat out love playing in this band!
