The MST Project is an opportunity for you to study independently in a field that is related to your coursework but outside of the regular course content. As a result of this project, you will become an "expert" on your topic. The skills you learn during this project will prove to be useful far beyond your high school career. The ability to independently plan and carry out a research project of this magnitude will demonstrate to others that you have skills that are both useful and marketable.
The components that make up this project have been specifically selected to enhance your ability to learn and grow. Each of the key components will tap into specific skills like, allocating resources, interpersonal skills, acquiring and evaluating information, and understanding systems. These skills from the SCANS Report (Secretaries Commission on Acquiring Necessary Skills) have been proven to be useful in the real world. If you come out of this project with the same skills that you entered it with, then you have let yourself down.
