Bonny bonnet in Fuzzy-Wuzzy

MATERIALS: 2x1/2 ox. balls PATONS FUZZY-WUZZY
Two No. 8 BEEHIVE needles or QUEEN BEE needles measured by BEEHIVE gauge. Two press studs.

MEASUREMENT: To fit average head.

TENSION: 13 sts. and 17 rows to two square inches on No. 8 needles, measured over stocking stitch.

ABBREVIATIONS: K.=knit; P.=purl; st.=stitch; sl.=slip; tog.=together; rep.=repeat; patt.=pattern; beg.=beginning; ins.=inches.

NOTE: All slip sts. are slipped purlwise.

INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on 110 sts. K. 10 rows.
Proceed in patt. as follows:-
1st row-K.1, * K. next st. wrapping Fuzzy-Wuzzy round needle twice, rep. from * to last st., K.1.
2nd row-K.1, * slip next 3 sts. on to right-hand needle dropping loops made on previous row, slip these sts. back onto left-hand needle and P.3 tog. into these 3 sts., slip next st. on to right-hand needle dropping loop as before, then slip this st. back on to left-hand needle, K.1, P.1, K.1 into this st., rep. from * to last st., K.1.
3rd row-As 1st row.
4th row-K.1, * slip next st. on to right-hand needle dropping loop as before, slip this st. back on to left-hand needle and K.1, P.1, K.1 into this st., slip next 3 sts. on to right-hand needle dropping loop as before, slip these sts. back on to left-hand needle and P.3 tog. into these 3 sts., rep. from * to last st., K.1.
These 4 rows form the patt.

Continue in patt. until work measures 6 1/2 ins. from beg., finishing with right side facing for next row.
Next row-Cast off 44 (one st. on needle after cast-off), patt. to last 44 sts., cast off 44.
Break off Fuzzy-Wuzzy.
Rejoin Fuzzy-Wuzzy to remaining group of 22 sts. and continue in patt. until work measures 8 3/4 ins. from where sts. were cast off. Cast off.

BAND
Cast on 8 sts.
Proceed in garter stitch (every row sl.1, K.7) until work measures 14 1/2 ins. Cast off.

TO MAKE UP
Steam press by holding a wet cloth one inch above surface of fabric and running a hot iron over surface of cloth.
Using a flat seam, join cast-off sts. to back of Bonnet.
Stitch Band round lower edge of Bonnet easing in fullness at back of Bonnet leaving 1 1/2 ins. at each side free.
Attach press studs to ends of Band. Press seams.
