"Grandma`s Jelly"
© DANOLYRICS 2001
Cardboard box full of jars,
Sitting on the back porch,
Purple stained cheesecloths,
Hangin from the cupboard doors,
After workin her magic,
Give it time to set, she`d tell me,
I couldn`t wait to get a taste,
Of Grandma`s homemade grape jelly.
Us kids would pick the grapes,
Just ripe on the vines,
Grandad spent time dabblin,
Makin his home brewed wines,
But our reason for helpin,
Was the growlin in our belly,
Cause we couldn`t wait to get a taste,
Of Grandma`s homemade grape jelly.
It was sweet, it was good,
Make it better, no one could,
Take me back, for a taste,
O` that magical purple paste. Mmm-Mmm!
Yeah I`m all grown up now,
But some things stay the same,
Still get familiar growlin`s,
That only one thing can tame,
She reads that parched old paper,
Called "Recipes by Nellie",
But my wife can`t duplicate,
Grandma`s homemade grape jelly.
It`s okay dear, we`ll try again next year,
For Grandma`s homemade grape jelly,
Yeah, Grandma`s homemade grape jelly.
