October 12, 2003 ~ Reading, PA
Yesterday was my 13th matchbox twenty concert. It was in Reading, PA which is about 20 minutes from where I live. That was very exciting to begin with. The first time I've ever been home from a concert within a half hour! We arrived around 5:30. I had 4 friends with me and my mom. It was my mom's first matchbox twenty concert. I picked up my FanClub tickets. I had 4th row, Kyle's side!! The opening band, The PushStars took the stage around 7:00. They played for about 40 minutes and then around 8:00 Matchbox Twenty was on!!! The highlights of the evening for me were Bent, which is always amazing and powerful in concert, Downfall, which almost brought me to tears. I love that song so much. So Sad, So lonely, becuz that is one of my Mom's favorite songs and it was great to be there with her. Once again, my favorite band rocked the house. I think my mom said it best when she said they were "intense" and poured all of themselves into each song.
Another review from the Reading concert from Holly.
By far, it's the best concert I have seen in ages. From the opening band -The Push Stars- I was riding on a high. For once, I felt that the opening band should be doing something on their own. They should be stars in their own right. During one of their songs, Rob Thomas came out and sang with them. Afterwards, Rob had nothing but positive things to say about them.
When the main even finally started, I was estatic. It was my first Matchbox 20 concert and I wasn't disappointed. To hear all my favorite songs played live was an experience beyond belief. The band never faltered through their performance. I've been to concerts where I thought that I would rather just listen to their CDs. Those are studio bands. Matchbox 20 is without a doubt a live band. They deserve to be heard in person with the music pounding in your ears and Rob's voice drifting through you.
I think the highlight of the evening had to be an acoustic version of "If You're Gone." It was unbelievable.
Was the money well spent? Indeed it was. Will I spend money to see them again? Without a doubt. They made me remember just why I like them so much.
