Growing up in Philadelphia, Eve was an only child. Her mother Julie Wilch was just seventeen when she had Eve. Her father was a spirodic presence in her life until she was 12. When her father left for good. Eve says she has never looked up to the movie stars when she was young, instead she looked up to her mother as a role model.At the age of 18 Eve went to california for an audition with Dr.Dre at a los Angeles record studio. Althou Eve was nervous about the audittion, she told herself that she would not make a big deal about it if the audittion didn't go well. It turned out that Dr.dre wanted her and signed her for a one year contract. But the one yaer contract produced little more than three song demo's. So Eve decided to walk away from aftermath and went back to Philadelphia. Back in Phily, Eve's friend the ascending rp starEarl Simmons aka Dmx. Dmx set her up with an audittion. This time it was in new york for his crue "The Ruff Ryders". Eve passed the audittion and was quickly signed by the Ruff Ryders. She followed her stand out perormance on the Ruff Ryders Compilation "Ryde or Die". But it wasnt untill the fall of 99 when Eve finnaly lived up to her stage name as "Eve of destruction" with the release of her slol debut: Eve : Ruff Ryders First Lady, which sold 213,000 copies and put her as #1 on the billboard charts. Eve says " i would really like to be called just Eve, but certain people still call me Eve of destruction, because i'm still her".
