Chapter 4

Lisa just stared at JC in utter amazement. 'How did he know? How COULD he know?'She thought to her self. "Um, she.. ah. over dosed on drugs at a party later that evening and died 3 days later." Lisa heard herself say. "How did you know?"

"Well for one you said the same reason as before was why you're here. And it's in your eyes, when you talked about her, and looked at the picture, love and pain both showed in your eyes." Jc said pulling Lisa into a hug. "I'm sorry for you lose Princess."

To say that Lisa was shocked that JC pulled her into a hug would be an understatement, but she didn't argue. She breathed in JC's colonge and didn't want to move, or have him let go; and he didn't. Lisa tried her hardest not to cry. Crying wasn't her, she refused to cry, she refused to be vulnerable around anyone and crying, in her eyes, made her vulnerable. She only cried late at night alone in her room. But she lost the battle against her emotions and cried. She cried into JC's chest for about 10 minutes before he made her talk about it.

"OK Princess, talk. What happened?" JC said with a fatherly caring tone in his voice. "From how your friend ODed to how you got here to Maryland."

"Well after the concert Misty suggested we go to this party, I didn't want to go but I went... and so you know I was in Portland visiting Misty for a week and the concert was the 4th day I was there..."

"OK"

"At the party they were offering us different stuff and Misty got high first than they brought out the needle and I left. The tattoo was more needle than I like in my daily life. I came back about 10 minutes later and Misty said she wanted me to get her to the hospital and that something was wrong. I asked her what she took and how much. She said heroine and she didn't know.

"Once we were there they took her and hooked her to machines and after 3 days of sitting by her side they told me and her mom that they couldn't do anything to save her and asked if Sandy, Misty's mom, wanted to take her off life support. She told them too. I guess it was to hard for her to watch her baby lie there and be basicly dead.

"With no life in her body and her eyes not opening and that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. Just sit there and watch her die before my eyes." She finished with tears in her eyes. That was the first time she had ever really talked about Misty and what happened. She didn't even tell the police that much.

"Princess ( AN: for those who don't know in chapter 1 or 2 it tells where 'Princess' came from), I'm sorry you have to endure that much pain. I wish there was something that I could do to stop your pain. But.." JC started with tears even in his eyes.

"JC, you'll never know what you've done. That concert was the greatest night of my life. Misty and I were like we were when we were young. She wasn't into the drugs for that night and not smoking or drinking and I was happy. It was great. Just all good things must come to an end. Thats all. So don't worry." She said looking deep into his blue eyes. "Thank you for listening."

"Of course. Listening isn't a problem. I'm just sorry I can't do more to help ya. It can't be easy. Now why are you here?"

"Well Evan and Kathy, my mom and dad, thought it would be best for my sanity to send me here so I don't have so many reminders of Misty. And so that maybe I wouldn't be so depressed.

"They thought that being in Montana would be hard for me since Misty's family had always been my neighbors. But I think that living here is best anyway." Lisa said.
