Chapter Forty Two

Alyssa smoothed the front of her white dress, smiling brightly as she walked through the large stained glass doors of the Church. She felt a feeling of serinity wash over her as she looked around at the familiar place. Candles outlined the main pathway going through the middle of the pews.

She smiled, thinking about what a beautiful Christmas it really had turned out to be. She had a simple day, relaxing at home. Lance had called to wish her a Merry Christmas that afternoon, which has brought a lot of cheer to her day.

She had took her time getting ready for the show her church was putting on tonight. It was kind of disappointing not to be able to be a part of the whole show, as she usually was...but just being there was all she needed.

She looked around a little, slowly walking over to an empty seat near the front. So many people had brought their families, and friends. Yet, she was all by herself. It left an aching feeling in her stomach thinking she had not one special person in her life to share the day with.

Justin hummed to himself, walking down the pathway lit with candles. Both his parents, step parents, and little brothers had come to watch the annual church concert. He was excited to see what they has prepared for this year. He held onto his brothers hand loosley, pointing to a pew to sit down in. As everyone filed in, his eyes settled on a familiar head of chocolate curls. He was expecting to see her here, yet still his mind registered in shock.

Each time he saw her his senses would have a complete spasm. As hard as he would try, he couldn't seem to take his eyes off of her. He brushed his fingertips over his lips, still able to taste her kiss. His arms were aching to hold her again, and for her to fill the gap in his heart.

He shook his head lightly, trying to rid the thoughts of her lingering through his mind. As he heard the minister talking he turned his attention towards him. He tried to keep his focus, but his eyes wondered over to Alyssa. She was the most perfect creature he had ever seen. Every thing about her radiated in beauty, captivating all of his attention.

The words being spoken on the stage were a complete blur to Justin. All he could concentrate on was every curl of Alyssa's hair, and every curve of her profile. His attention was finally grabbed again he heard the choir shuffling onto stage. He smiled, watching the members robed in white and gold align themselves on the risers.

"Glory to the newborn King!

Peace on earth, and mercy mild,

God and sinners reconciled."

Justin watched and listened intentlivly to the choir he had grown up listening to. Many of the members were friends of his family, and friends of his also. Each new song they sang was done with more creativity than he thought him and the guys brought into their live show each night. He was fascinated at how well each voice seemed to blend together, and how even when they had the smaller children performing, every note was exactly on pitch, and in sync with each other. That was something he couldn't even maintain.

As they kept the show rolling, Justin got more and more engorssed in it. Just when he thought it was ending, he watched his minister walk back to the front of the stage.

"Ladies, and Gentlemen, as our show is coming closer to an end, there is one more performance before our last song. This young lady approached me yesterday and asked if she could sing a song. Hesitant at first, she explained to me her reasons why, and of course I agreed immediately. Now, I'll give the stage to her..." Justin's eyes followed his hand, pointing to an area of the audience. His eyes grew wide as he watched Alyssa slowly walk toward the stage.

"Thank you everyone for giving me this amount of your time..." She paused a moment, taking a deep breath.

"As many of you may know, my life has changed tremendously this past year. After picking myself up from a bad past, I was just getting my life back together when it all took a drastic change. I met a certain person, who has changed my entire life. Not only has he given my amazing oppurtunities in my career, but he has given me a chance. He gave me a chance to mold myself into the person that I wanted to be,and showed me how to love again..." Alyssa smiled nervously, making eye contact with Justin. He froze, his mind reeling with the information she had just said.

"And...I feel I will be forever in debt to this person, who has not only showed me how to love, but has loved me in return. And for awhile, I thought I could have a life without him, but now I realize how wrong I was. I dont want to live my life without him in it, and I don't want to regret things anymore. I dont want to spend another day without him. So...Justin this song is for you. I love you, I always have, and I always will. I'm so sorry I didn't let you know sooner..." Alyssa wiped away the tears falling down her face, her face squinching in emotions.

"This is the time of year, that we learn to give

And the greatest gift is learning to forgive.

We will have the best that time we ever knew

If you forgive me and I forgive you

I don't want to light a fire

Unless it will warm your heart

I'm playin no holiday songs

I need you to sing your part

And baby if I could have just one wish come true

I don't wanna spend Christmas without you

It's so hard to believe

We're staring at the end

When all we think about is starting up again

Whatever we lost, when we were apart

We'll find it all alone in the dark

I don't wanna light a fire

Unless it will warm your heart

I'm playin no holiday songs

I need you to sing your part

And baby if I could have just one wish come true

I don't wanna spend Christmas without you

There's nothing more that I want from you

Then to lie here together

And stay here forever with you

There's no one I ever knew

That I wanted to spend Christmas with, more than you....

I don't want to light a fire

Unless it will warm your heart

I'm playin no holiday songs

I need you to sing your part

And baby if I could have just one wish come true

I don't wanna spend Christmas without you."

Alyssa slowly wiped the tears away from her face, smiling into the crowd. Her nerves were pounding, as she looked for Justin, wondering just what his reaction would be. Her eyes looked over at the place she had saw him in, widening when he was gone. A feeling of panic washed over her, as she began to look around for him.

"Baby..." Alyssa inhaled sharply when Justin began walking up the steps to the stage. Her hands were shaking lightly, as he walked up beside her, lacing his fingers with her.

"Why are you crying?" He asked softly, smiling through the tears misting in his eyes.

"I-I thought you left..."

"Baby... I would never leave you. You looked so lonley just standing there all alone..." A smile formed on the tips of his lips, as he replayed the words she had spoken on stage. SHE LOVED HIM. He bent his head down, kissing her sweetly on the lips. Both of them were oblivious to the people standing and clapping all around them. They were completley lost in the moment.

"I love you...." Alyssa whispered wrapping her arms around his neck.

"I love you to baby.." Justin smiled, hugging her against him. She was all that mattered to him at the moment, both of their broken hearts had been mended. And they were healed...in more ways than one.
