Next Time
Words and music by Barbara Keith Ferrara
1. It’s a battle in the body,
So say those sad obituaries
But my time with you has made me see
The battle in society.
2. It starts the moment we are born,
When we are not aware
Of the choices that are made
By those who say they care.
CH. Next time, if we meet again,
I’ll give my heart and soul;
Next time, I won’t listen to those lies
In the battle for what’s whole.
3. It used to be they did no harm
But now they’ve turned to dealing drugs
Which only cover, never heal;
They stole your life like thieves and thugs.
4. So how can we say we care
When we’ve lost what’s true and free?
It’s buried underneath a tower
Where they make good salaries.
CH. Next time, if we meet again,
I’ll give my heart and soul;
Next time, I won’t listen to those lies
In the battle for what’s whole.
Br: And I only looked away
For a moment, and you were gone;
And while you took your last breath
The TV droned on.
CH.Next time, if we meet again,
I’ll give my heart and soul;
Next time, I won’t listen to those lies
In the battle for what’s whole.
Next time….
