Were They Written In The Stars?

Are you or your children going to college and being taught Gender Studies? Are your/their professors pot smoking liberals? Have you or your children been asked by your teachers or doctors whether you are comfortable in your body or would you like to change your gender? Do you remember what a separate sex public restroom/bathroom is? Do you or your parents remember when the word "gay" meant free spirited and carefree? Do you know what a sex chromosome is? Do you know the difference between desire and action? Are you confused as to whether you are a liberal or conservative? Is Brexit homophobic? Are you frightened to say anything about our current culture without offending anyone? And finally, do you know anything about astrology, apart from the banal trifle in newspaper and magazine columns?

If you answered yes to any of my above jibes, this article is definitely for you. And if you've read any of my other blogs, you'll know that I will definitely bring astrology into my arguments, as we analyze one of the most divisive cultural issues of our times.

The key to understanding our sometimes laughable, sometimes serious mess of many young people, and a few oldies, not knowing who or what they are, is, in my opinion, the loss of spiritual connection to nature caused by the intellectual destruction of "exoteric" or surface-level religion. I'm not saying that the breakdown is a bad thing - please read my general philosophy starting with this article - but I am saying that so far, only a small percentage of people have replaced this literal religion with a holistic or esoteric alternative.

If you know nothing about astrology, you might want to do a quick course in how it was derived and how science is proving its principles to be rational - hint - it has little to do with the stars, but more to do with Earth's seasons and their imprint on the growing embryo and foetus. Learning how to meditate might help too, because the other half, or "sister" of astrology is free will, and we cant have free will if we don't know how our minds work, which in turn depends on whether we understand a bit of psychology - the difference between our self-conscious and subconscious mind. Come to think of it, it's probably best to take about ten years studying Eastern religions, yoga, tarot, Carl Jung, Spiritual Alchemy, esoteric Judaism, astrophysics and quantum theory. But if you don't have time to do that please read my other blogs to give you an introduction to the world beyond the physical plane.

After you learn about the "personal" and "social planets" (astrologers call the Sun and Moon planets, although we know they are not) - Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn - we learn about the Outer/transcendental planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (yes, we know that astronomers have demoted Pluto but it doesn't matter to astrology), and basically the past 300 years of Western Culture can be described with strong correlations to the discoveries of these planets.

To get straight to the point, two of these Outer Planets, Uranus and Pluto were in a square aspect to one another as seen from earth, from 2011 to 2015. So what? you might say, how can planets millions of miles away from Earth have any effect on individuals or cultures? The answer is that planets don't directly do this. They are merely spheres of rock and gas circling the Sun, reflecting light. It's that light which is the important factor. In fact, you might have noticed that New Age practitioners of astrology, tarot and consciousness in general sometimes call themselves "Light Workers". The planets can be seen simply as markers in this huge cosmic light soup that we live in. This light soup or sense of connectedness is perceived with the intuition rather than solely with the intellect, and intuition involves our subconscious mind. Both men and women have subconscious minds, but it is usually women who sense this connection of everything, since our subconscious minds have evolved to be stronger than in men - perhaps for childbearing purposes.

As I point out at the bottom of my article on Uranus, both Uranus and Pluto have strong ties to sex, in all its definitions - as the reproductive energy, the desire for physical expression of this energy, and the actions leading (or not) from this desire. Note that I discriminate between desire and action, and THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT for understanding why people are in such an existential mess about sexuality. In astrology, Venus is desire and Mars is action, and the latter doesn't necessarily follow from the former. We are not robots or automatons. We can control our actions with our minds. Desire is, in Kabbalah, said to be "a gift from God". All desire. This is why the planet Venus, in Kabbalah, is on the right hand side of the Tree Of Life - it seems to just pop out of nowhere, or "come down" to us from "above". But Mars, or action, is on the left hand side of the Tree of Life, indicating that action is governed by the illusion of separateness forming free will. And action/free will have consequences or karma. That's why the astrological sign Libra, or Justice, connects Mars/Severity to the central mediating sphere.

Author and philosopher Sam Harris gets us straight about Free Will

Now, getting back to Uranus and Pluto. These are the planets which come together in the sky (as seen from Earth) in the 1960s, correlating to a huge sexual free-for-all in Western culture. The logic behind this is that Pluto rules Scorpio, the sign of sex, money and politics, and Uranus rules freedom and individuality. Uranus is co-ruler of the sign Aquarius, along with Saturn, which gives it some structure, but by itself it can just mean rebelliousness. Looking back on those times, we might soon realize that they were mild compared to the politics and sexual confusion going on today - in younger and younger adults and now even in children.

This is because in astro-logy, the square is the most forceful aspect on the astral level of consciousness where astrology is perceived. The square has itself the metaphorical power of Mars. This is why our culture has translated it into a forceful application of power when it comes to Political Correctness and sexuality. In the 1960s and 70s (when the conjunction was still separating) it was good to know that if one was sexually attracted to one's own gender, and acted on that desire, we would not be put in prison, but many people with homosexual desires still kept them hidden or "in the closet", perhaps out of an inner knowing that they were more of an opportunity to grow spiritually, than an excuse for breaking the norms of nature through which the whole of life had evolved. And compared to today, when a frighteningly large number of people seem to know little about biology, most people who had been given a secondary school education knew that male and female are defined by our sex chromosomes; we have XY if we are male, or XX if we are female. With very few exceptions, this is how biology defines gender, not the appearance of our external sex organs, and certainly not whether we don't feel like dressing in a certain way or playing with certain toys. The idea of gender-fluidity has been forced upon children by people with a liberal agenda but not much understanding of how we all got here.

Uranus and Pluto are known as transcendental planets. That means that they purportedly describe the whole cosmic light soup, and how it is connected. In other words they are, Holy planets, rather than personal planets describing human feelings or social actions. When they were square to each other during 2011 to 2015, there was a metaphysical war going on the astral plane. And without the moral codes described in religions, the West didn't understand the holistic message, and just saw it as an excuse for forceful (Pluto) enforcement of liberalism (Uranus).

This enforced Political Correctness is often symbolized by the term "Woke" by the more politically Right in our culture, but I personally don't like using this term because, in my opinion, it is a form of cultural appropriation. The term Woke was invented by African Americans to mean "awake, spiritually and politically", and I imagine this was in reaction to the genuine existence of oppression by other cultures. We cannot deny the historical existence of slavery, perpetrated by many cultures, even if our ancestors had nothing to do with it, so I think we should be careful to rush to judgement about what is sometimes sneerishly termed Woke, and what is real social justice.

In the 1960s, Uranus and Pluto were in the Tropical sign of Virgo, sign of health. We saw the invention of the Pill (by men) and this had a huge cultural effect on women, literally changing attitudes as to whether women stayed Virginal until married to avoid pregnancy. Uranus and Pluto were also opposite Saturn and Chiron in Pisces, the sign greatly associated in astrology with drugs, alcohol, the subconscious mind and addictions, so the sexual revolution was tied up with psychedelia and a huge interest in psychology and altered states of consciousness. In the 2011 to 2015 period, Uranus was in Aries, sign of Self/I/Me and Pluto was in Capricorn, and still is - about to conjunct with Saturn at the beginning of the 2020 decade. Capricorn is the sign associated with governments and rules the material world - often to the effect of blinding us to the spiritual levels of consciousness (please see my blog about the illusion of separateness, so it makes astrological sense when we correlate the square to the way some governments have tried to make individual identity (Aries) a political issue. If we take the birth of England, and the subsequent UK, as the coronation of William I, it would be Christmas Day 1066, which makes England/UK a Capricorn country (with Aries rising). It is surely not surprising that enforced Political Correctness is currently so prominent in those islands, with issues such as No Platforming, perceived BBC bias and socially enforced policing of sexual attitudes.

And it's not just LGBGT, ie sexually related issues which have become "woke" or culturally enforced or cancelled. The environment, Climate Change, immigration, the economy, nutrition, medicine, recreational drugs, education, sports and even fashion have all become polarized and politicized, with some people now frightened to state their views on these subjects on social media for fear of being cancelled.

Uranus' orbit round the Sun is closer than Pluto's, so it travels around horoscopes faster than Pluto. As Uranus separates from its square to Pluto, we will hopefully see a melting and softening of these often divisive attitudes to identity, but before that happens we have to deal with/learn from the transit of the asteroid/comet Chiron, which is in Aries for 7 years, starting 2019. All of these planets/bodies will trigger the 2011-2015 Uranus-Pluto square as they pass over the former Aries or Capricorn positions of the square, so the healing process won't really be evident, in my opinion, until this Chiron transit through Aries is complete, and until Uranus and Pluto begin to trine each other (an angle of 120 degrees) in 2025. This trine will also be enhanced by Neptune in the late degrees of Pisces, and then over the next few years, all three Outer Planets will move into Air and Fire signs (Uranus in Gemini, Pluto in Aquarius and Neptune in Aries). I think that by this time we will hopefully have sorted out what is real, fair social justice, in harmony with natural law.
