The Genitorturers were formed in the early 90's in Florida. They were discovered by IRS Records when they were looking for acts for a film featuring rock bands with spectacular stage shows. The film Project was abandoned, but the Genitorturers secured a contract and recorded their sadist debut, 120 Days of Genitorture. The founder, vocalist and driving force of the band, Gen, is a statuesque dominatrix who is not only a professional body piercer but also a former medical student. She is persuasive spokesperson for the new piercing ethos, which sees sado-masochism as not only a sexual, but a spiritual and tribal experience. This translates into an unforgettable stage show, featuring everything from whips and chains, to live nipple and genital piercing. Invetably, the Genitorturers' striking visual aspects rather eclipse their music, which is a somewhat pedestrian blend of power metal and hardcore punk, combined with a few modern touches such as sampled dialogue. Gen's ruff and assertive vocals are reminiscent to that of the late blonde rock sex queen Wendy O. Williams.
