I have been a fan of Darren since 1997 when he was with Savage Garden and "I Want You" first hit the airwaves. I have seen almost every tv appearance they made. I finally had the opportunity to see them in concert Philadelphia on July 22, 2000. I had a fabulous time. I was on my feet cheering the entire time. I cried when Darren sang "Imagine". I also have to add that Darren really involves the audience. This page is dedicated to Darren and his love for his fans. Unfortunatly the band split at the end of the Affirmation tour in 2000. I have to say something about Daniel and the rest of the band. Daniel is extraordinary. The back up singers and musicians are just so gifted. Our love for them will still go on. Darren has now gone on to further his career in a solo manner. I wish him all the best.

How It All Began
Darren & Daniel first met in 1993 when Daniel Jones and the band Red Edge which he started with his brothers, advertised for a singer. Darrens’ show business experience extended no further than his involvement in many school plays.. The inexperienced but enthusiastic Darren was the only hopeful to answer. Darren soon inspired a different flame in Daniel and the pair broke away to start writing original songs. They called themselves Savage Garden when they released the demo that would change their lives forever. When their self-titled debut album was released in March 1997 it entered the charts at #1 and notched up 13 weeks at the top, the third longest stay for any Australian-made album.

Darren once was robbed while working in a videostore, the guys were very violent and stuck a gun in Darren's face. He would have nightmares for months afterwards that the guys were breaking into his house. And according to Daz, all it took was a dog's bark to make Daz burst into tears (This a true and verified fact)

Ahh. I've had a bath.
I had room service.
I'm about to go to bed.
So much more relaxed now after 8 hours of rehearsals.
I'm here on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia with my band, getting ready to get Too Close
to you. What the hell do we do all day every day for the next few weeks? Well, make sure
that the show is worth it! I've been going over arrangements of songs with Andrew (our
Musical Director and Keyboard player) and Lee Novak (bass,some guitars and now new Band Leader). It's been great to have 3 albums
worth of material to choose from. I've dusted off some old favorites and polished up new ones. It's been
great...but I'm very tired tonight. We have 11 more days to go. Once the music is sitting where we want it, then we'll work with Bruce Ramus, our lighting designer and director... turning it all into a show.
But that's another day. Right now, I'm just going to fall asleep. Thought I'd just check in on you..
Let you know I took a bath.
