The band was originally formed by Chris Barnes(At the time frontman/vocalist of Cannibal Corpse) and Allen West(Guitarist from Obituary) as a side-project in 1993. In 1995, Barnes left Cannibal Corpse to focus on Six Feet Under,and Allen West was replaced by guitarist Steve Swanson. Six Feet Under's first few albums(Haunted, Alive & Dead, Warpath)were a step away from Barne's work in Cannibal Corpse. However with "Maximum Violence" Barnes goes back to his roots lyrically. With much more extreme/violent lyrics than their previous albums.
