It was almost 9:10 when I heard a knock at my hotel room door. I grabbed the remote to the TV and pressed the power button. The walls of the hotel room cracked - kinda eerie, I thought. Shrugging it off I went to the door and opened it. But the only thing there was an envelope lying on the carpeted floor. I picked it up , opened it slowly, and read it.
Meet me in the lobby at 9:15. -Nick
I read it again, still a little confused, then folded it up, shoved it into the back pocket of my jeans and grabbed the key to my room, locking the door as I went out. By the time I caught the elevator and actually got down to the lobby it was exactly 9:15. Nick was leaning against the light post in the middle of the lobby with his arms crossed as if he had been waiting for hours. Without saying anything he took my hand and led me out of the sliding glass doors where a limousine was parked. He opened the door, helped me in, and climbed in behind me. He smiled at the driver and we were off.
Tightening my grip on his hand I looked up at him. "Where are we going?"
He smiled. "Only the best place in New York!"
The driver nodded.
"Where’s that?"
"You’ll see!"
When we go to the harbor, the limousine stopped and the two of us got out.
"Midnight," Nick said the driver with a smile, slipping him a twenty dollar bill.
"Whoa…," I said with a sigh, taking it all in. "How’d you know about this place?"
"Let’s just say I had a little help," he smirked. "Isn’t it awesome?"
"It’s…beautiful!" I replied. The countless number of New York City lights bounced off the water and into the stars hovering above. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before in my life.
"You’ve been acting really strange lately. I know there’s something you’ve been dying to tell someone, so tell me," he said, pulling me closer by the belt loops.
I shook my head, but I didn’t say anything.
"Come on, pleaseeeeeeeee?" he grinned, putting his cheek on mine.
I tired holding them back, but it was no use. Streams of tears fell down my face and onto his cheek.
"What is it?" he asked, pulling my closer.
"Maybe there is such a thing as love," I answered.
