This an overview of the mural showing the part I had to invent on the left hand side.
The original stops at the big blue door and I had to make the mural go all the way to the corner.
That left me about a metre of wall to fill.
But with what?
I decided that by making the wall of the cafe end at the door, it was possible to make the
resulting wall facing us "square", or in the plane of the real wall I was painting on. It makes the real door in white,
and the black staircase, part of the scene. It draws you into the scene and radically alters the sense of space in
the room. Suddenly, you're out in the streets of Paris! The collection of empty bottles that seems to gather there
on the stairs just adds to the flavour.
