The Broomball Weekend - An Easter Tradition!

Every year since I've gradutated from University, the core of our old broomball team gathers
in Port Stanley,Ontario on Easter weekend to re-aggrevate the old injuries.
Broomball is kind of a strange game that takes the basics of hockey,
and adds a bit of soccer and insanity.
It began as a substitute to hockey for railroad workers who could only put together pick-up games
with what they had on hand. So, they ran around on outdoor rinks or ponds in thier shoes
and used brooms for sicks and a handball for the puck. Eventually, the bristles were cut down and taped
heavily to make a kind of paddle that you whack the ball with.
Now, of course, we have these fancy plastic/rubber paddles.

Our colours..

You can call me Abe.

This is the view you get of the rink when you walk in the front door.

Here's a classic small-town-Canada dressing room.
Why do they always smell the same? (Hey! Is that a hint of urine?)
Why is that smell home?

Broomball can be a dangerous game when you get up some speed.
Here's some guy from the Boston Broomers crashing INTO the Ann's Army net.

Here's me trying (in vain!) to mount an attack.

I almost got a shot off here.

Ann's Army is, like, PRO-fessional or something.
Here, they score at the three minute mark.

And again two minutes later.
They won 8-2 or some dumb-ass shit like that.
You can kinda see into the bar upstairs that overlooks the rink.
We spend a lot of the weekend having a drink and watching other teams go at it.
If you look really close, you can see Dan Dennis, our captain, on the left. He's the big guy in the red
peeking through the third window, holding his beer.
