A Spiritual Crime of Old Wealth Against Penniless Youth
»
Where wit and charms cannot avail,
Beauty disarms -- friend without fail!
Bound to pleasures in fleshly lust,
Beauty measures in youthful trust.
Then villain Age throws these friends down
And failures wage from that gray crown --
Like failing sight and failing health,
While beauty's might is swayed with wealth.
Now judge this base or call that sin,
In either case let passions win.
