Weekend Romance

Don't you hate when you like someone, but they live 100's of miles away? I have had a few experiences like that. I think in a way, it intensifies your desire for each other, though it may not be the healthiest or most convenient of circumstances. Anyway, this is a poem about a "weekend romance". I have tried to make a song out of it, but it just refuses! I hope you enjoy it.

Weekend Romance

Less than 24 hours since last I held you so close.

The image of your face, burned fresh upon my mind.

I have to wonder, do you think of me the same the day after.

Knowing 7 days will pass until you're with me again.

I wish every second my eyes are open, they focused upon you.

And when I close them in teh middle of night, I slip to you in a dream.

I cna't remember ever feeling so safe giving my love to someone, like I do right now.

It kills me to have to leave you on Sunday nights.

So secret an emotion, we've never even told each other.

But I can see it when you look back at me, it's there in your expression.

I wish for the time to come, when these feelings can be liberated.

This hiding, bottled up show we lead, leaves me so exhausted.

I'm certain you're worth the wait, and I have a lifetime left to love you in.

7 days and counting down anxious, as I long for the weekend.

If I could, I'd turn the clocks, make them spin ahead in time.

To a point we're caught in each others' stare, then I'd stop them there.
