I Tried To Tell You

This is a true story of something that happened to me recently (as many of my songs are). This particular instance has to do with me being a real big jerk to someone, then deciding that I was wrong and that I was just scared to get too close to them. So, I pushed them away. Well, they went away, and stayed away. Not long after, I ran into her somewhere, and I was just beside myself. She was wearing this black dress and looked probably the most beautiful I had ever seen her look. All I could seem to get out of my mouth was, "what are you so dressed up for." All the things I could have said to her and that was all I could think of at the time. Well this song reflects all the other thoughts that were bottlenecked in my head.

I Tried To Tell You
John D. Parker

When I walked in the door, I didn't quite know what to say.
The well rehearsed witty lines just vanished away.
Standing there I was stunned, a galaxy of stars glazed my eyes
When I asked you why you were here and so dressed up for tonight.

Once the moment had passed I put my hand upon my head.
In the annoyed disbelief, in the words I had said.
How come when it comes to you, I can never find the words?
To tell you what is in my heart, whenever we converse.

Chorus
I tried to tell you, you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.
The one I see almost every night in my arms when I dream.
I don't know how to make things right, the way that they should be.
I tried to tell you, I still love you.

Back when I almost had you, I couldn't see what could have been.
And I would give up the treasure of earth, just to have that chance again.
If even for a moment to know, that you had loved me too.
I'd want time to stand still in that moment forever, me once again with you.

Repeat Chorus
