He Did
Something that doesn't happen as much as it should happened in the past couple of weeks of January. I have really had a Christian way of thinking for the first time in a long time. This song is the second fruit of such thought. There are alot of friends here on earth that say that they would "die for each other". Now whether they actually would or not, we may never know, but there was one Friend to all of us that did die for us, so that we wouldn't have to face an eternity of torment--Jesus. That's what this song talks about.
He Did
Words and Music by John D. Parker
Itfs easy to acknowledge we know someone, who is standing by our side.
But sometimes when it comes to expressions of faith, we tend to duck and hide.
Ifm just as guilty, hiding God in a box and stuffing it in my closet.
While I lived to be the life of the in-crowd, I should ask those so-called friends...
(chorus)
Would you die for me? Give up your life for me?
Suffer whipsf stripes for me? Well, He did, He didc
Closer than any friend on earth I know, what a friend we have in Jesus!
And itfs time that we show the world, what He didc
Remember in your quest to keep it cool, to keep it real and donft lose who you are.
I speak as much to me as to anyone else, donft leave your morality sealed in a jar.
When it comes your turn to stand before Him, how will you answer that day?
How will you respond to the question if He asked it of you, what could you honestly say?
(chorus)
Would you die for me? Give up your life for me?
Suffer whipsf stripes for me? Well, I did, I did it for youc
(break)
Would you die for me? Give up your life for me?
Suffer whipsf stripes for me? Well, He did, He didc
Closer than any friend on earth I know, what a friend we have in Jesus!
And itfs time that we show the world, what He didc
