John's History![]() It was nearly 6 a.m. in Madisonville, KY, on November 16, 1974, when John D. Parker took his first breath. Ever since then, only one dream has been in his heart—TO BE A ROCKSTAR! John recalls a conversation at the age of six in the kitchen with his mother Annie, "I can remember she was hand-washing dishes, and I told her that when I became a rockstar, that I would have a maid to do that for her, so she didn't have to do it anymore." About the same time as this conversation, John wrote his first song titled "Letsa Catcha Bani" about his neighbor's german shepherd. Though it wasn't a radio success (or even released, recorded, or anything else), it was the starting point for what has become a song library now more than 200 strong and growing daily. While still keeping his writing, through elementary and in high school, John put his dream on the back burner. "I don't know if I just thought it was too crazy, or that I didn't have enough talent or what, I just gave up on it for a while." Then, during a band trip on which his younger brother Mike, 22, was also along, they broke out a duet of "In The Still of the Night" in which they received an astounded and enthusiastic response from the surrounding students. John had been writing new material at that time too, including an R&B ballad titled "What Do I Do" about trying to get a girl's attention. They also sang that song to which they received more accolades from their peers. This was enough to ignite a spark inside of John to start taking his singing and writing seriously again. Soon after that, with the help of brother Mike and band classmate Billy Farmer, they wrote more songs and put a band together which was called "JoDaPa" (JOE-duh-pah), which was created using the first two letters of John's full name (JOhn DAvid PArker). The band gave their first public performance in the Webster County High School Auditorium during a talent show hosted by Performing Arts Club sponsor Renee Capps. That was just the start John needed to get him wanting to keep pursuing his dream. "Performing live is the best high you can get! I just can't get enough of watching people connect with your music--stuff from inside your thoughts and dreams." ![]() Today, John is proud to call Tampa, Florida home, where he is busy recording, writing and searching for that “holy grail” of a recording contract! ![]() 1st grade in Iwakuni, Japan.
