April's Fool

written by john d. parker

It was the the beginning of spring when I first met her.
And I swore to myself this time I would not let her.
Grab ahold of my heart and make me feel like I have felt before.
But she broke through the wall and with just one look I knew that I could run no more.

She has a little girl, blond hair in curls.
And I never thought I could laugh like she makes me smile.
Both of them have opened up a place that for so long has been closed.
Now I have become, April's fool.....

(chorus)
I would follow them anywhere the road of fate might go.
And pride is just a memory of a man left with the snow.
In bloom is a love I've never known. So pure in heart and soul.
Even if the world just sees me as April's fool....

I've had trouble in the past learning to let go.
To all my fears of getting hurt and left in the cold.
Ah, when April, she looks at me with those innocent brown eyes.
Now I think the trouble is, I could never let go....

(chorus)
