Chapter Twelve-Preparation
They were at dinner on the night everyone got back from Christmas vacation. James, Sirius and Remus just got through telling Peter and Lily on what he missed out on going home. “Man I wish I was there.” He said.
“I don’t think that it was very nice to do that to Severus.” Lily remarked.
“Oh yeah guys I have to tell you something.” Remus said.
“What’s that,” Peter said.
“Well I am a werewolf. I really wasn’t sick I had to go so they could lock me up in a room so I didn’t get loose.”
Lily and Peter looked shocked. “Did you to know about this?” Lily asked.
“We found out the same way you are finding out now.” James said.
“And we have one more thing to say,” but James was interrupted by Professor Dumbledore, who had stood up and started to talk.
“I have some very disturbing news, While everyone was away for break one of our students intercepted and owl carrying a very important letter that Dorl Kardof sent to all his faithful followers. This letter explained that on April 25 Hogwarts school well be attacked by the Soul Thrivers. I understand if you wish to go home during that week of April. I will not stop you. But you will notice a change in your classes. I have instructed your teachers to stop what they are doing and to start preparing you for the attack. Due to these changes in your class the final exams will not be taking place this year. Now let us eat.” Dumbledore finished and sat down.
“Well that is what I was just about to say.” James said. “ Except that I was the student who got the letter.”
“Oh,” said Lily.
“The rest of dinner everyone ate silently.”
Next morning it was back to the school schedule. James, Peter and Sirius met up with Lily at Breakfast. “We should get going we have Herbology today,” Lily said.
“Morning class,” a plump woman was wailing at the green house for them. “I have just finished planting Sabra tooth Roses around the whole school. You know just incase. Today’s class you are going to learn how to safely get pass them. I’ve got here a baby one. It hasn’t toothed yet so it is good for practicing.”
“UM Professor Bishoi,” Lily said.
“Yes dear,” Professor Bishoi said.
“Well what do the toothed Roses do?”
“They can bite off a finger to biting off a head. But they are not poisonous.” She said. “Now to get past it you must stand about ten feet away from it and sit on your knee’s. It will then judge you. If you are up to something it won’t let you pass. If it lets you pass it will bend over. So get in line lets see who can get pass it.
Everyone made it by the end of class although it took some a few tries.
“Next we have defense against the dark arts.” Lily said as they walked back to the castle. When they got to the Dark arts room Professor Greggory was joined by about 15 other men. All whom James recognized.
“Hello people,” Greggory said,” we are going to have some guests with us at school for some time now may I introduce to you Fifteen Aurors. Who will be helping us prepare for the attack. Today we are going to work on the blocking technique. To do this you must say arretvkra and think to your self that the spell has stopped in mid air. So Mr. Tamus could you please shoot me with a spell so I can demonstrate blocking.” An Auror stepped forward and shot a spell at Professor Greggory.
“Arretvkra! A blue wall shot out of His wand and stopped the spell. Then they both disappeared. Now pair up and get to work. One sends a spell other tries to block it.”
James and Peter got together and started practicing. “Alright Peter send the jelly legs curse at me.” James said. Peter did this, “Arretvkra!” James yelled a blue wall formed then gave away and the curse hit him. “Take it off take it off” James yelled.
By the end of class no one was successful but a lot of people still had some jelly legs. James got up and turned to Remus and Sirius, “That book you gave me is really going to come in handy now.”
