Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Cool one, isn't it?

The halls of Hogwarts were very busy (as always), as everyone rushed to their dormitories.
Running Weasel walked down the hallway with his companion, Ziral.
"I signed up for muggle studies, and transfiguration too. I heard the school was building a quidditch field. Hey, maybe they have a quidditch team! Maybe we could join and-"
"Shh!" Running said, pulling Ziral to the side.
"What?" Ziral asked.
Running looked around to see that no one was looking.
"Can you keep a secret?" he whispered.
"Sure I can," Ziral said, pushing her hair to the side. "I can keep a billion secrets! I could keep so many secrets that-"
"Ziral!" Running exclaimed.
Ziral blushed.
"Sorry," she said.
Running looked again to see if anyone was watching.
"Look," he said.
Running reached into his pocket and pulled out...a rat.
"It's a female. I named it Holly. What do you think?"
"You aren't supposed to have rats in here," Ziral commented, stroking Holly's fur.
Running sighed. "I couldn't help it, I found her on the window sill and I couldn't resist."
Ziral's eyes grew wide.
"Hurry!" she hissed. "Someone's coming!"
Running quickly stuffed Holly in his pocket just as Harold, one of the prefects came around the corner, his brow wrinkled in worry.
"What's wrong?" Running asked.
"Have you two seen Kimi and Sam?" Harold asked. "They've been missing all day."
Running looked thoughtful for a second.
"Hmm..." he muttered. "Maybe they lost track of time?"
"For a whole day?" Ziral said doubtfully.
"Oh well," Harold said. "Let me know if you see any sign of them."
With that, he walked sadly down the hall.
"Where do you think Kimi and Sam went to?" Ziral wondered.
"I don't know-"
"Maybe your rat knows, Weasel."
Ziral and Running turned to find Arnileous Snape standing just at the end of the hallway.
"So, sneaking rats in, Weasel?" Arnileous sneered. "I don't think our founders would like that very much."
"You wouldn't know," Ziral shot back. "Because they don't know."
"Of course," Arnileous continued, ignoring Ziral's outburst. "What do you think would happen if someone told one of our clever founders?"
"They'd never see the light of day," Ziral said angrily, drawing a finger across her neck.
"Yes," Arnileous said, waving the threat aside. "But that wouldn't save miss, er, Rat."
Running threw his hands up in exasperation.
"What do you want, Arnileous?" he demanded.
Arnileous grinned wickedly.
"What a generous thing to ask," he said. "I wouldn't expect such a question. How generous can one-"
"Get on with it, Arnileous." Ziral growled, reaching for her wand.
"Oh, yes I almost forgot," Arnileous said with mock innocence. "I would like, a duel."
"What?!"
"Yes, a wizarding duel."
"You're going to get caught," Ziral insisted.
Ignoring her, Arnileous turned to Running.
"Well?" he asked.
Running nodded.
"Sure."
Arnileous grinned.
"Okay, we meet tomorrow night, midnight, okay?" he said.
"Fine."
With a look of satisfaction, Arnileous turned and walked down the hall.
Ziral had just enough time to give Running an "are you nuts?" look before Arnileous stopped dead in his tracks.
"Oh, I almost forgot," Arnileous said. "We meet...in the Forbbiden Forest."
