The original band, Detour, started with a kind of out of no where idea. Jesse (bassist), Noah (guitarist), and I (Garrett, drummer) were skating the half pipe in Jesse’s back yard when Jesse had the idea to start a band. Noah’s mom was the guitarist for our church's worship team so he said he would play the guitar, Jesse had long fingers so he said he would play the bass, and since I had a little experience playing drums, I said I would be the drummer. The stage was set but a problem, that would plague the band for a while, was now very apparent. We had no vocalist. Before we met Kenny (vocals) we had two other vocalists that just didn’t work out. Kenny (vocalist) and Jeremy (lead guitarist) both kind of just dropped into our lap. Jeremy was introduced to Jesse and Noah, when I was in New Jersey, by a friend of the band Nick. Jeremy played very well and we all like the skinny little guy so we all agreed that he was in. Kenny was introduced to us by Marc, Jesse’s dad, Kenny is an amazingly gifted musician so we are very blessed by him. Now there was only one thing left to do, name this interesting group of people. We thought about many different names and finally settled on BORNE. With the addition of Dayton (trumpet) and Dan (hand drums) we are now ready to go where ever God leads us. He blessed us beyond belief so far and we will continue making music for him until we die.
