observer or spy mission sixten or sixeleven (cdr from crippled ninja productions)
the more i find out about this the more impressed i am. apparently this short release (two tracks with a brief synthesized voice introduction) is built completely out of field recordings from a laundromat and a payphone recorded onto a fisher price tape machine. the observers/spies involved are dan short and mark price, the former being the author of "headcold" (and probably involved in the lansdale pa scene in some way i'm not aware of) and the latter being the man behind the glass of juice, math and how to sleep projects. and seeing as he edited and arranged the recordings, it shouldn't come as a surprise that this sounds a bit like math or glass of juice. only a bit though, as the beats are much more complex, with less of the video game-ish sound and more of a stuttery IDM type feel. the source recordings have been processed and chopped up but every once in a while a recognizable sound will appear, such as the scraping, clattering coins and washing machine gurgle of the first track or the telephone tone melody of the second. nice, well crafted tracks, but you'll have to put the disc on repeat to appreciate it since it's so short.
