sodium shelled population center no. 8 (recycled cassette from last station on a railway tapes)
the cassette that was recycled in this case was live's
throwing copper, and if anyone ever deserved to have their albums recycled its them. no offense to live fans, it just isn't my thing. so anyway, when i opened up the package from evan's prosthetic limb [which also contained the above tape, i wasn't expecting this one but jakob threw it in for making me wait "two years"] i saw the cool packaging, which is a clear plastic sleeve with a printed stripe design on it, paper insert, and then... live. 'shelled population center no. 8' is one track of improvised sounding bass noise [that is to say, the noise squeezed out of a bass, i guess] long enough to take up almost all of the first side of the tape, however long that is. twenty+ minutes i believe. noisy noisy noise. very crunchy and lots of low feedback, lots of other sounds. some parts sounded almost like they were made by an organ, nice and thick. for the most part very energetic, although a few overdubs wouldn't have hurt in some spots. after a couple minutes of silence 'i alone' bursts out of my speakers so i have to jump up and shut that off.  on the other side... more live.
