Quid 12 tracks of Quid (cdr from mayan media)
this is the debut, i believe, of new england noise duo Quid, ten [yeah thats right] unnamed tracks "recorded in a basement." as a whole it is very dense and muddled sounding, when listening to it i got the picture of going headfirst into a thick sludgy liquid, trying to swim through tar or something. i'm not going to call it harsh, cos right at this moment that word seems to have very little meaning [after all, if you got used to the 'harsh' sound wouldn't it cease to be harsh anymore?] and anyway the term doesn't really fit. lots of static and white noise drone with some bubbling digestive sounds and weird unintelligible vocal samples, like if you took a detuned radio and put it in a blender along with a Mouse On Mars cd and a cup of molasses and then poured the end product in your cd player. something like that. do you realize that if this was a normal music review all that stuff i just said would mean i hate it? but i don't. standout tracks [for me] are seven, static and various noises along with heavily distorted and buried radio vocals; and ten, one of the more atmospheric tracks on the disk, has sort of a jungle feel to it [as being in a jungle, not drum n bass].
