prurient captivity/dig through the wall (c90x2 from hospital productions)
dominick fernow cannot be a very happy person. not if he puts out something like this. there is nothing happy about this release. it comes packaged in a heavy folded shingle, sewn shut with thick wire like he doesn't want you to open it. inside, the sleeves are black ink on black paper, with painted black cassettes. there is one track to each side, starting with the track "i hate myself."each track is about forty-five minutes long, but they aren't live improvised noise wank as far as i can tell, they seem to be edited and planned out. the sound is all over the place but almost always harsh, with a few more quiet spots of lower volume static or odd sounds, and generally speaking no one type of sound is used too much for too long; although there are longer droning spots they're balanced by passages where sounds are cut up and switched a bit. and lots and lots of distorted/manipulated screaming, anguished and frustrated it seemed. certainly not something you could just casually listen to, but in my opinion that makes it all the more worth your time.
