jason campbell/xv parowek (split c60 from hermetic museum recordings)
this is definitely the some of the weirdest stuff i've heard from jason campbell ever. which is saying something. besides his own noise mr campbell adds lots of samples and loops, and a good amount of those are opera samples. i know that if i had read that in a review for anything a couple years ago i would've immediately skipped it over, but this is really a good release. three tracks spread over about thirty minutes, and really incredibly layered and put together well. things tend toward the atmospheric side for the most part but occasionally get rather chaotic with opposing sounds placed over each other and jumbled together. also some almost musical parts, albeit very odd and disconcerting music. great stuff from jason campbell. the xv parowek side is completely different though, and i haven't really been able to listen to this whole tape in one sitting because of it. xv parowek, a one man [i think it's only one person, although i'm pretty sure there have been xv p recordings with more than one person] noise project from poland, serves up three tracks of minimal high frequency feedback that after the campbell side seem pretty static. they do have their moments though, although it is kind of a painful listen. raw aggressive noise, stripped of anything nice or easy to listen to.  an interesting tape, altogether. check it out.
