“Come on Mike! We’re gonna be late!” I glanced down at my watch. 7:15:
“MIKE!!” Mike walked out of his room and locked his door:
“Keep your panties on Kate. They’ll be plenty to drink still when we get there.” Brooke and Brad walked out of our room:
“Guys let’s all get a picture.” The four of us got together and our friend, Kyle, snapped our picture.
Tonight was mine, Ashley, and Brooke’s sorority formals. Rob couldn’t come because he couldn’t get away tonight so I asked one of my good friends, Mike, instead.
Brad grabbed Brooke’s hand and looked at us:
“Ready?” I grabbed Mike’s arm:
“Let’s go!”

“Kate, I’m spending the night at SAE. See you tomorrow!” I waved goodbye to Brooke and then turned to Mike:
“I’m wasted. I think it’s time to go.” We boarded the bus back to campus. When we got off, Mike looked at his keys, then his car, and then me:
“I think it’d be better if we walked.” I nodded:
“Good idea.” We linked arms and headed uphill.
After we reached our dorm, I sighed:
“Fin—“ I was cut off by someone grabbing my arm:
“Where the hell have you been?” I looked up, startled:
“Rob!” I threw my arms around his neck. He glared at Mike:
“Who’s he?” I let go of him:
“This is my friend, Mike. I asked him to my formals cause you said you couldn’t go. I didn’t want to miss my first formals.” Rob stared Mike up and down. Mike stuck his hand out:
“Nice to meet you, man.” Rob nodded but didn’t offer his hand or say anything. Mike pulled his away and stuck it in his pocket:
“Alrighty then. I’m going to bed. See you guys later.” Mike walked inside. The two of us followed him up the stairs and went into my room. As soon as we reached my room, I shut the door.
