'You can’t get away from me that easily, Katelin.. I will be back for you. I love you and I can’t live without you!'
“Get away from me! Get away!!!”
“Katelin! Katelin! Wake up!” I shot up in bed and noticed Nick hovering over me:
“Are you okay? It sounded like you were having a bad dream.” My forehead was dripping with sweat. I pulled Nick down and buried my face in his shoulder as I started sobbing:
“Why is this happening? Why did he do this to me?” Nick tried to calm me down:
“Shh. It’s okay. We’re all here for you.” I wiped my tears:
“I don’t know how I can get through this.” Nick rubbed my back and whispered:
“I’m here for you, Kate.” I looked him straight in the eyes:
“I don’t even know you. Why are you doing all of this for me?” Nick didn’t know what to say:
“Uh…I guess…I don’t know. It’s actually pretty simple: I want to.” I managed to crack a smile:
“Thank you so much.” I glanced at the clock: 2:34:
“Are Ashley and Drew still here?” Nick nodded:
“Yeah, they’re out on the beach.” I got out of bed:
“I think I want to go lay out there for a little bit. Are you going to come?” He followed me down the stairs:
“Yeah. I’ll hang out on the beach for a little bit.”
I walked down to the beach to find Ashley and Drew playing in the water. I smiled at them and then put my towel down to lay down. I grabbed the radio that Ashley had brought out with her and started flipping through the stations. I came across a pretty familiar song and started singing along with it, purposely:
“But my love is All I Have to Give. Without you, I don’t think I could live….” I glanced over at Nick out of the corner of my eye. He was looking pretty nervous. I smirked and Nick looked over at me:
“What’s so funny?” I tried to contain my giggles:
“Nothing. I like this song, that’s all. Why?” He shook his head:
“Uh…no reason.” I smiled to myself and laid down. Just then, Drew and Ashley came running back over to where we were. Ashley noticed the song that was on the radio:
“Oh I love this song! ‘Hey girl, I don’t want you to cry no more inside…’” Drew shook his head:
“Excuse my girlfriend’s wonderful singing skills.”
'Thank you so much Drew for not insulting this song. I would feel so bad after all Nick has done for me. I wonder if Ashley told him yet.' I decided to find out:
“Hey Ash, come here for a sec.” She bent down so I could whisper in her ear:
“Did you tell Drew about what we found out?” She smiled slyly:
“No way! I want to have just as much fun with him too.” I giggled:
“Okay, but be careful what you say about it. We don’t want him to start insulting Nick right to his face without knowing it.” She nodded:
“Oh yeah. I forgot about that.” Ashley and I laid out for the rest of the afternoon while Drew and Nick threw the football around for a little while and then joined us.
