“Katelin! I can’t believe we’re back at school already! I’m so psyched! Can we hang out with Chris and Josh tonight?” I laughed:

“Slow down Brooke!”

It was finally August 21st and, after a long, hot summer, I was finally back at school. It was so weird to think about how much different things were from just one year ago. I had made so many great friends and had so many great memories of the past year that it was hard to believe that this year could get any better.

Our stuff was finally unpacked and we looked around our shoebox of a room. Then we both just fell down laughing. Brooke finally calmed down:

“I cannot wait until our lofts our built!” Just then there was a knock at the door and I heard a familiar voice:

“Where my girls at?” I jumped up and hugged my friend:

“Ash!!!!” Brooke joined our hug:

“Come on girls! Let’s go outside!” I grabbed my pack of cigarettes and joined my two best friends outside:

“So where are we drinking tonight girls?” Brooke glanced over at our favorite fraternity:

“Hopefully, they’ll have a party.” I glanced at the house briefly and then turned my attention to Ashley:

“So Ash, how’s Drew?” She smiled at me, her eyes shining:

“Oh he’s so good! I love him so much!” Brooke looked at me and rolled her eyes:

“So when’s loverboy getting here?” Ashley glanced at her watch and then over at his fraternity house:

“He should be here any minute.” Brooke made gagging faces at me:

“I can’t believe you guys are going to be living so close to each other.” I just laughed:

“Well girls, I’m going to take a nap before we go out.” Brooke stood up and stretched:

“Me too. I’m exhausted.”

Brooke and I stood outside of Ashley and Alyssa’s room waiting impatiently. Brooke started to whine:

“Aren’t you guys ready yet?” Alyssa quickly grabbed her purse and shoved Ashley out the door:

“Coming, coming, coming!” Brooke was already out the door:

“Finally!!!”

We walked down town to Chris and Josh’s house where there was going to be a huge party. As soon as we walked in the door, Ashley spotted Drew:

“Drew!!!!” Brooke, Alyssa, and I laughed as Ashley plowed through everyone and threw her arms around her boyfriend. Drew was equally as excited to see her:

“Oh I missed you so much.” Brooke again made her famous gagging faces:

“You guys were together all summer.” Drew smiled and pointed to an absolutely gorgeous guy standing right next to him:

“Look who decided to come up for the weekend!” Ashley detached herself from Drew and threw her arms around the mysterious stranger:

“Rob!!!! Meet my friends!!!” She grabbed his hand and pulled him over to us:

“This is Brooke, Alyssa, and Katelin.” Rob smiled:

“Hello Brooke, Alyssa, ad Katelin.” He nodded at each one of us. When he looked at me, his mouth crinkled up at the corners and he flashed me a killer smile. My heart just melted. This guy was so unbelievably hot. He had dirty blond hair and piercing green eyes. He was probably about 6’ and VERY nicely built. I think Ash noticed how badly I was staring because she elbowed me in the ribs:

“Come on guys. Let’s go get a beer.” Rob nodded:

“Sounds good to me. Shall we?” He held out his hand to me and I grabbed it and followed him over to the bar. As I leaned on the bar a familiar face looked up at me:

“Yeah Katie!” I just laughed:

“What’s up Chris?” Just then, Brooke came pushing through the crowd, her long brown hair flying behind her:

“Excuse me! Excuse me! Chris, get me a beer!” Chris laughed:

“Whatever you say Brooke!” Chris gave all of us a beer and Rob followed Chris and me over to the couch. Brooke began a conversation with Pete, this guy that was totally in love with her last year. That’s not too surprising. A lot of guys went after Brooke. She has a very natural look about her. You know, doesn’t need a lot of make up or anything. She has long, pin straight brown hair, chocolate colored eyes, and rosy cheeks. She’s about my height (5’2”) and weight, though she may be a little bit thinner than me. I had gotten used to the way guys went after her and the way that they fall all over Ashley. Ashley’s about 5’7” with short blond hair and icy blue eyes. She’s in ROTC and has the perfect body to prove it. And she’s extremely confident and not afraid to talk to anyone.

I, on the other hand, am pretty shy when it comes to people I don’t know but, for some reason, I felt extremely comfortable around Rob. He was so easy to talk to. We just clicked right like that. After a while we started making fun of how wasted everyone was getting. We were having so much fun. Before I knew it, it was 3am and people were starting to clear out. I didn’t see any of my friends around and Rob couldn’t find Drew or Drew’s roommate, Jay. He turned to me:

“So where are you headed?”

“I’m going to go home. Want to walk with me. It’s right next door to Drew’s. “ He held his arm out and I linked mine with his:

“Let’s go then!”

Half an hour later, we reached the front door of my dorm. Rob looked at me, his green eyes searching my brown ones:

“Will I see you tomorrow?” I smiled:

“I hope so.” And with that, he pushed my brown hair out of my face and gently brushed my lips with his.

“Bye.” Then he was gone. I stood there for a second, trying to catch my breath. I closed my eyes and tried to relive the kiss that Rob had just given me. Finally, I turned the key in the door and went up to my room.
