Lesson Four

First Chords

Now that you are in tune(Lesson 1) and are comfortable with your position, its time to learn some chords. What are chords? Chords can best be described as a series of harmonious notes. Chords are usually combined with many other melodies to create a song. We are going to learn seven basic major chords in this lesson.

Note - A technique called "barring" is used for a few of these chords. Barring simply means that you "bar" your finger across the fretboard to fret more than one note. Using this technique it is possible to place your finger on, for instance, the first fret and play and F on the top string and and F on the bottom string.
