About teenyboppers
What exactly is a teenybopper? Besides usually being a girl under the age of 16, a teenybopper tends to be trend-minded. She is only into whatever is fashionable at the moment, whether it's clothes, music, or anything else. She tends to buy her clothes at trendy stores like the Gap and Abercrombie and Fitch. To a teenybopper, stores like Wal-Mart and Target aren't good enough. Also, she is obsessive about her interests, usually regarding celebrities (especially music artists). For example, when it comes to music, a teenybopper doesn't just listen to a particular artist on a casual basis. She tends to be obsessed with the artist in question, often fantisizing about that artist to the point where she starts to confuse that fantasy with reality, like believing that she is going to marry that artist (if that artist is male). This is turn leads to the teenybopper cussing out anyone who tells her the truth. Her interest in that artist has interfered with her thought process and her life. Also, the musical knowledge of a teenybopper in limited to whatever is on MTV. Since she doesn't know any better, she doesn't explore the musical spectrum, and since MTV shows only a tiny portion of the music that is out there, she doesn't look beyond that narrow scope. And a tennybopper usually only likes music artists that she considers hot-looking, which means that her musical tastes leans towards male artists who are marketed as sex symbols (the Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, Ricky Martin, etc.). But she will also be interested in female artists such as the Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson because they present a sense of glamour that the teenybopper aspires to achieve. And all of the aforementioned artists perform pop music that won't offend anyone (and usually referred to as "teenpop" due to being marketed towards teenage girls). Also, she will shun artists whose music is even remotely abrasive-sounding, especially hard rock bands. And she will lash out at anyone who criticizes her favorite artists, and at the same time stereotyping those people as losers or psychopaths. All rational thought has gone out the window with a teenybopper. Maybe it's just a sign of her naivety, but whatever the case, it's just plain immature and annoying.
