Distractions

I woke up from a sleep
heavier than rest.
All that time in bed
and not a moment's dreaming.
I wish I had more time
that I could invest
into love,
into tears,
into bonding,
into screaming.

All these distractions
keep us from ourselves.
Pursuit of happiness
has become a living hell.

When there is a change
coming
seems I am the last to know.
I'm in the spiral chaos
running
to something that might help me grow
but my canary in the coal mine
got too busy watching the news
and my ear to the ground
got to caught up in the blues

All these distractions
keep us from ourselves.
Pursuit if happiness
has become a living hell.
