Contributions

 

            As the leader of the team, I organized the meetings and assigned jobs to my members. During our first meeting, I contributed by coming out with the website structure while the other members start on other parts such as designing the web page layout and gather information on our topic. After the first meeting, work was assigned to each of us and we were supposed to collect information and research on our topic. I am assigned to start on the Flash introduction, gather nice flash Mtvs for on our topic, edit and compile all the main pages of the websites. At the later stage of the project, more ideas popped out of my mind and I suggested these ideas to my group. I recommended that the website to have a better Graphics User Interface (GUI), e.g. to have an active pop out navigation bar. I suggested that to my member, Lixing because he had seen a website that teaches Java Scripts and Dynamic HTML (DHTML). After that, I also created a flash credit about my group members and I helped out Lixing with some of his Java Scripts.

 

Work done, tools used and what have I learned

 

          Flash introduction and credit – I had made the flash introduction and credit with the Macromedia Flash MX. During the process of creating the flash, I encountered difficulties as I do not have adequate knowledge on using Flash MX. I visited the library and looked into several books for reference and I also consulted my classmates for help. After this assignment, I had better knowledge on using the FLASH MX and making better flash.

 

            HTML – Due to my previous experience in creating web pages, I m used to make use of notepad to create web pages. After learning how to use Macromedia Dreamweaver, I realized that it’s actually easily to create the pages using Dreamweaver. Although sometimes I still prefer to use the notepad, Dreamweaver is allows me to add layers and do each layer each at a time. I also learned that Dreamweaver cannot enter Chinese characters, and I can do that on Microsoft FrontPage. Most of the web pages sent to me by my members were edited by me. During this process, I got in touch with Java scripts, and debug some minor html errors.

 

            Java Scripts – I learned to use Java Scripts on the web pages from Lixing. I learned to recognize the Java language and application. After learning that, I lighten Lixing’s workload on all the adding Java Scripts on the web pages.

 

            Others – Being the leader, I learned to lead my team to work more efficiently. I experienced what it is like to motivate my team members. I learned to work as a team and do things together. Although during the project work, I had some minor conflicts in ideas, but I managed set aside the differences and learnt to give and take in different situations.

 

Conclusion

 

One very important point is that during team work is to learn to compromise. In my team, each of us sort of know more about how to use one tool (E.g. Flash, Dreamweaver, FrontPage, etc.) than the other, this way, we can learn from each other thus getting to know more stuffs from each other. From this project, I think we gained a lot, both in designing websites and life skills.
