Daddy’s Babi Girl
May 1999 to October 29, 2005

When I first saw her, she was such a tiny thing barely alive.
I thought to myself, how can anyone be so cruly? I then
turned to her breeder and said, “what breed is this puppy
she is so tiny”? He replied, “that’s a Newfoundland
puppy, she won’t survive”.

I walked over and picked her up, she looked into my eyes as
if to say, “I will fight, if you will fight for me”.
I knew then that this tiny 4-pound Newfoundland puppy at 9 weeks
old needed us as much as we needed her.

I took her home and sat her on my husband’s chest. He looked down
at her and said, “don’t worry Babi girl, your daddy’s got you”.
I asked him, “What are you going to name this little one”? He looked
back at her and said, “Daddy’s Babi Girl and we’ll call her Babi”
Babi started to grow and before long, she was a
beautiful 140 pound Newfoundland.

She would get so excited when her daddy coming home from work.
She would always grab a toy and run to greet him. Patiently
waiting till that moment when he would come through the door.
Her eyes would glow as the door opened and there he would stand.
She was always the first at the dinner table, right there beside
her daddy. She would always look up to him as if to say,
“I love you, daddy”. Phillip and Babi shared a bond that I
once shared with my first Newfoundland, Shintona.

Then the night of October 3, 2005 came Babi no longer had that same
glow in her eyes. And we knew that something was wrong. We took
Babi to our vet and our worst fears were conformed, she had
Lymphoma. We didn’t realize what a short time we had left with her.

Once again I found myself looking into her eyes She looked back at
me as if to say once again,“I will fight, if you will fight for me”.

We fought the battle, but this morning when I looked into her eyes
She looked back at me as if to say “I’m done fighting and my battle is over”

Today, October 29, 2005, Babi fought her finally battle.
Her golden heart stopped beating, a bright glow in our lives is gone.
God saw that she was tired of fighting. So he put his arms around
her and whispered "Come To Me And I Will Take You Home"
With tears in my eyes I said to her, “go night night,
your battle is over” and I watched her fade away.

We loved her deeply, but we knew that it was time to let her go.
I sit here now with all these wonderful memories, but memories are
all we have now. Remembering what Phillip said to her,
“don’t worry Babi girl, your daddy’s got you” It brings
tears to my eyes but, I know that our time to hold her was through.

We know that she is once again playing and that she has joined Shintona,
Tessa, Silas, Ceaira, Geia, and Jemma Nee under that big shade tree.

Babi,
Rest knowing that we will always love you and that we will join you one day.

Love Always and Forever, Daddy and Mommy
