The 85-year old actor, James Doohan passed away on Wednesday July 20th, 2005 due to a medical condition; pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease he play the unforgettable role of Scotty the Chief engineer aboard the original Starship Enterprise He stayed with the series for all of the original three seasons, He later returned as Montgomery Scott in seven Star Trek feature films, and became the third Original Series actor to reprise his role on Star Trek: The Next Generation, in the sixth-season episode "Relics."

He will be missed.
