ADDRESS - EMAIL, URL & NEWSGROUP

Everything residing in cyberspace has an address. It is somewhat like a combination of a postal address and a telephone number. The address define the location of a computer connected to the Internet, or a file or piece of information on a computer connected to the Internet. There are several types of internet addresses:

E-mail addresses look like this: johndoe@address.com. An e-mail address is required to be able to send and receive e-mail.

URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) are the addresses used to identify Internet sites (Web sites). The address or URL of the site you are connected to is listed in the address box of your browser window. URLs start with http, ftp or gopher. If you know the Internet address, you can type it in the Location or address box at the top of your browser and press Enter/Return.
