!Help for DOOMaker v1.1 - A frontend for MkDoomGfx - FREEWARE
-------------------------------------------------------------

This application makes making DOOM graphics a bit easier, but all the hard work is done by !DoomGFX, which must have been seen by the filer first. This is easily done by putting !DOOMaker in the same directory.

The window consists of two parts:

1) At the top, an area to drop the sprites to be converted
2) At the bottom, an area that allows you to choose where the DOOM graphics are to be created

Choose sprites to convert
-------------------------

First drag the sprites you want to convert onto the package icon in the top left part of the window (or onto the iconbar icon). If you change your mind Adjust-click on the number and it will be reset to zero.

Choose destination directory
----------------------------

Next create the directories you want to save the graphics in. It is recommended that these are GRAFIX, MONSTERS and WALLS.

Click the radio for Grafix if the sprites are titlescreens, status bar, lettering etc.
Click the radio for monsters if the sprites are monsters, weapons, powerups etc.
Click the radio for walls if the sprites are replacement wall textures

Drag the appropriate directory onto the directory icon in the bottom left of the window. You can store the directories between sessions by choosing Save dirs from the iconbar menu.

Do the conversion
-----------------

Having set the destination directory, click OK (or Convert from the iconbar menu) and the sprites stored will be converted to DOOM graphics and saved in the chosen directory.

Offsets
-------

To display properly in the game, the graphics must be offset from the actual position of the object. There are three options (top left) for setting the offsets:

1) Use Values - the numbers entered in the boxes will be used
2) From file - The sprites will be checked against the original DOOM graphics and be given their offsets. This will work perfectly if, for example, you've merely recoloured existing graphics e.g. to make a green imp. Note that the filename must be the same as the DOOM original and be in upper case.
3) Calculate - This option chooses offsets that will centre the graphic, so is useful for a quick check.

Note that if you've chosen to save in the Walls directory (Walls icon selected) the offset choice is overridden because wall textures have a defined offset.
