Commander Benjamin Sisko is transfered to the space station Deep Space Nine to oversee the station's repair's after a long Cardassian ocupation of the planet Bajor. Commander Sisko, later promoted to Captain and given the USS Defiant, must lead his crew through the restoration process of this fragile area. Almost daily, new threats arrive to conquer the peace that surrrounds the station, while the mysterious Prophets watch from the nearby wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant.
New friends and foes alike appear daily in this region. Throughout the seven years of Deep Space Nine, a wormhole was discovered, a new people were encountered, the Federation went to war with the Klingons, the Cardassians turned on the Federation, and Sisko joined the prophets.
