| Klingon Empire |
Nearly a thousand years before Captain Kirk ever placed a foot on the bridge of a starship, before the Borg first discovered the Federation, before anyone ever heard of the starship Voyager, a proud Klingon warrior stood on the surface of Qo'nos, and was impressed with what he saw. Roughly translated, his name was Kahless the Unforgettable, the unofficial founder of the Klingon Empire, uniting the often barbaric race. From that point onward, the unified military force of the Klingon race struck fear into their enemies.
The Klingons were again under assault in 2367 when high council struggles began. The council leader had been poisoned and the new leader, Gowron, was moving to take control. Forces opposing Gowron's emergence as leader engaged in a brief civil war, ending in Gowron's acceptance of the council leader position.
Torwards the end of the war, there was again a brief power struggle in the empire. This time it ended with the death of Chancellor Gowron, and the new appointment of Chancellor Martok. Ambassador Worf was assigned to work alongside of him as the Empire turned torward it's future.
Things seem optimistic as the Klingons heal from their war. Relations with the Federation are good, as well as the Romulans. There are no other major threats to them at this time, will they flourish? Keep an eye out.
The Klingon Empire is stained with a bloody history. Power struggles plagued it until the mid twenty-first century when the Klingon High Council realized power within the empire, distilling the need for an emperor. Despite this, initial first contacts with the Federation were disastrous, ending in hostilities between both sides. It was not until nearly a century later at the Khitomer Peace Accords that a treaty was hammered out. Between those events, the Klingons attempted a very brief alliance with the Romulan Star Empire, but that simply ended in both sides not trusting the other, and the Klingons returned to their original policy.
Only 5 years later, the Klingons again faced trouble when a changeling impersonating General Martok led forces against Cardassia Prime in hopes of removing the Detapa Council. The Federation alliance fell apart as border squirmishes errupted between both governments. It was when the Dominion officially began to pose as a threat that both sides agreed in reuniting. Within mere months, war finally broke out against the Dominion and their Cardassian allies. The Federation proudly fought alongside the Klingons throughout the war. Only about a year in, it became an issue within the Empire of possibly backing out of their alliance and deciding to recall all forces into only Klingon space to defend the homeworld. The war seemed like it would be disastrous despite how many times the tide turned until the Romulans officially joined the alliance.
