National Show

The use of the word ‘National’ in the name of a Breed Club’s Championship Show is not permitted without prior approval of the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC), the member club’s controlling authority and the breed National Council.

1. The use of the word ‘National’ in the name of a Breed Club’s Championship Show is not permitted without prior approval of the ANKC.

2. Application for the use of the word ‘National’ must be lodged through the ANKC Member Body in the State or Territory in which the fixture is proposed to be conducted, by the club applying to conduct the fixture.

3. If a Breed Club applies for a National Show, then the National Show must actually replace one of the Breed Club’s normal shows and is not to be considered to be in addition to their normally scheduled shows.

4. When a National Show is to be held, no other Specialist or Semi Specialist Club may issue Challenge Certificates on that day or days for the Breed/s involved in the National Show without written permission from the host club and the ANKC.

5. A National Show shall not be held on the same day as a Royal Show where it would preclude exhibitors from participating in either event.

6. An application for approval by the ANKC to use the word ‘National’ in the name of a Breed Club’s fixture shall be submitted in the following manner:

The original application requesting to use the word ‘National’ in the name of a fixture is to be lodged with the ANKC Member Body to which the club is affiliated, at least eighteen (18) months prior to the proposed date/s for the conduct of the fixture.
The application is to include a copy of the written endorsement from the National Breed
Council to the Affiliated Member Club endorsing the conduct of a National Show. (The endorsement must include confirmation of the year the National Show is to be conducted)
The ANKC Member Body shall then endorse and confirm the actual date/s and submit its written endorsement, together with copies of the correspondence referred to above, to the ANKC Administrator.
The ANKC Administrator shall then refer the application to the National Breed Councils Breed Liaison Working party for a recommendation to the National Breed Councils Liaison Committee
who will approve the application, or otherwise.

7. If for any reason the National Breed Council decides not to endorse the Application, The National Breed Council shall submit their reasons for rejection, in writing, promptly to the National Breed Council’s Liaison Committee who will consider the reasons and prepare a recommendation for consideration by the ANKC.

8. Approval to conduct a “National Breed Championship Show’ shall not be granted, except in extraordinary circumstances, to the same breed in any State or Territory in succession.

9. If approved, the Affiliate conducting the fixture must:

Advertise the fixture in the official publication of each ANKC Member Body. (Member Bodies shall charge a maximum rate of $50.00 for this advertisement, the size of which shall be 9cm wide x 8cm deep.
It is sufficient in the advertisement to state –

- the name of the fixture
- the date, and the address of the venue at which the fixture is to be held
- the name of the judge
- the name, address and phone number of the Secretary of the Club conducting the fixture, or the address where schedules can be obtained.
- The date entries close

10. National Championship Show host NBTC(A) Member Clubs are required to:

Forward a marked catalogue of the event to the Secretary, NBTC(A)
Provide photographs of all In Show winners for NBTC(A) records (to be forwarded to the Secretary)

From an entry of 104 (75 Bull Terriers and 29 Bull Terriers(Miniature), Mrs McGregor chose for her Best Exhibit in Show, the Bull Terrier, Ch Bullamanaka Young Gun (Ch Shirvin Zulus pride x Bullamanaka Epic) bred and owned by L.R.Mayall.

Best In Show

Her Runner-up in Show was the Bull Terrier (Miniature) Ch Sugarbaye Sebastian (Ch Schardale Mr Colossal x Ch Schardale Miss Sangaree (C.G.C.). Bred and owned by M & S & C Craven.

From an entry of 93 (76 Bull Terriers and 17 Bull Terriers (Miniature) , Miss McCombie awarded Best Exhibit in Show to Kabullka Move Over Rover (right)( Brugown Black Onyx x Nichmari Shantelle) from the Puppy Dog Class. Bred and owned by R & S Brown from Tasmania.

Runner Up & Best In Show

Runner-up Best in Show was from the Junior Bitch Class – Bullroy Moon Shine Gal (left)(Ch Bullroy Black Master x Bullroy Rambling Rose) bred and owned by S & S Humphrey from Victoria.
