Stormy Weather

Storm

Thunder and lightning
Intensity frightening
Awakening up the sky

Noise is deafening
Intensity threatening
As in my bed I lie

Static on the radio
Lightning putting on a show
Off to sleep I try to go.

Storm slowly moving on
Noise and lightning, almost gone
Where is Sleep? I want to know

Noises in the Attic

Noises in the attic
Snoring from the bed
Are these all just noises
I am hearing in my head

Rains drops from the gutter
Dripping on the ground
Tick tick from the kitchen clock
A gentle peaceful sound

Midnight passing by
The sounds or so they seem
Are muted at this hour
Or maybe just by dreams

Storm Blues

The Lightening crackles
The thunder roars
Shut the windows
Close the doors
The rain's coming down
See how it pours

The dogs are scared
and cower with dread
Seeking some solace
With humans instead
As more claps of thuinder
Break over our head

The rain is easing
The noise growing less
The dogs are not shaking
So much now I guess
The dogs come up close
and lick at my hand
Please don't send us
Out now please understand

Their eyes, they are big
and look with dread
At the thought that I might
Send them outside to bed
They can sleep in
The storm's still wild
In comfort they'll sleep
Like any small child.

Safe

Windows rattle
Rain pours
Wind howls
Morrie snores

Dogs bark
Lightning flashes
Doors shudder
Thunder crashes

Storm passes
Weather calms
Safe here
In hubby's arms

Drip, Drip

Drip, drip, the rain is falling
The trees are all washed clean
The flowers are drinking thirstly
Everything looks clean

Drip, drip, the raindrops fall
I shelter neath the tree
Listening to the birds calling
Hoping it doesn't rain on me

Drip, drip, the heavens open
Now it's raining faster
Will I make it to the house
Only if I run faster
