Rain in January
Seasons
Branches swaying in the breeze
Leaves falling from the trees
Gently floating down they go
An autumn blanket before the snow
Winter comes, trees are bare
Leaves are blowing everywhere
The wind whips up a stormy sea
Beside the fire’s the place to be
The days are fresh with morning dew
Work in the garden, I look forward to
Spring is here, the weathers great
Must plant the seedlings fore it’s too late
For the heat of summer, I wasn’t ready
The buzz of mozzies is quite steady
The thrill of bbq’s is past
Thank goodness, Autumn's here at last

Awake and listening
As the early hours creep by
Listening to the rain
Pouring from the sky.
It’s unusual in January
For it to rain at all
A cooler day this month
I simply can’t recall.
Now see, I’m not complaining
Cooler weather, I prefer
Especially when it’s 40 +
And not a breeze does stir
Then I long for cooler days
Nights when I can sleep
Undisturbed by dreams and such
Till mornings light does creep.
