Lupi Poems

For the last two years I have been ill with an autoimmune illness unfortunatly the specialists can't make up their minds about which one, which is often the case. The fatique I suffer with can be very debilitating and my energy levels are very low, the aches and pains are constant and there are often nights when its easier to get up and do something with my time than lay in bed waiting for sleep to happen....
Thats when I put pen to paper and write my poems, most of them anyway.
On this page you will find poems inspired by my illness, If you too suffer from an illness I am sure you will be able to relate to them.

My Mountain

Morning comes too soon

40 +

Past Midnight

MyMountain

I face my mountain every day
Explore the face in every way
Slow but sure the steps I take
To plot the path I wish to make

The path is long, the mountain high
The summit rises to the sky
I stumble and falter along the way
Then rest up for another day

Another trial with each new day
I stumble again to find the way
To overcome each hurdle and reach the top
For until I do - I just won’t stop

Morning
Comes Too Soon

Sounds creep in one by one
Along with the rising sun.
A dogs bark, the song of a lark
A new day has begun

Traffic increases, people walking,
The rustle of leaves,  I hear.
Twittering birds,  someone talking,
Tis time to get up I fear.

40 +

I am so very tired
Exhausted thru and thru
To take just one more step
Is more than I can do

I am so very tired
I feel it, in every bone
Aches, pains and tenderness
So bad I can only moan

I am so very tired
I’m glad the day is done
Off to bed I’ll drag myself
40 plus! - was supposed to be 'fun'

Past Midnight

It's way past midnight
I should be asleep
But sleep evades me
A vigil I keep

The long lonely hours
They slowly pass by
My thoughts going with them
I sit and I sigh

The dawn it is breaking
Over the lake
I'm going to bed now
I can't stay awake
