. 3 - 2 - 1 HERE WE GO AGAIN! So I'm re-writing my profile with a new perspective a year down the line. I was born in Middlesbrough, and raised in Brambles Farm, so I know that you don't get anything for free (apart from dole pay)! I first picked up a guitar in December 98 and played my first gig within a year with Horizon and this was all down to the influence of a song called "What Do You Want From Me?" by Monaco. This was the song that pushed me into indie music.

Up until 2001 I took a back seat to Dave in the band letting him write the songs etc apart from Headshot, Indeed and It's All Over, once Dave left the band I guess I was forced into writing songs because no one else did at the time. I feel that after my attempts with The Plan, Fell In Love With Sting and the songs mentioned before, I struck gold with a song that fits "The F" so well. That song was called "Now" and in the year since I wrote that song I have gone on to write "The Time" and have a heavy influence on the re-working of "Original" and "Go Get It".

My new style is complimented perfectly by Paul's ability to knock out dance beats for fun and combined we have come up with some great tunes over the last few months. Aswell as these bass driven dance-indie tunes I have also come up with some traditional rock stuff "Heatwave" being one of those and I am trying to keep my horizons as wide as possible.

I feel that The F would have had a hell of a lot more songs and played a hell of a lot more gigs if we hadn't gained and lost 3 members over the last year or so, which of course when they leave the band it fucks up the continuity, but as someone who aspires to be a music producer in the future I like to think that I always have an idea of what direction the band is going to steer in next (without talking pretentious bullshit!).

I am currently on the first year of a Creative Music Technology degree at Hull University (The Scarborough campus is where they happen to have dumped all us muso's so if there's any stunning ladies that are going to Scarborough and want a free room for the night... ;) ).

You could probably ask anyone close to me and you will find out that this band is my life... it's my dream to make it work, for us to get to a point where we can earn a serious living from it... I've had stitches taken out of my fingers a day early so I can play a gig for this band and then played bass with puss streaming (AND THE ROCK MEANS STREAMING) out of my fingers... which kinda hurt, I've played gigs without a drummer just to get our name banded around... and believe me when you are trying to play a set without a drummer it is so difficult because it means we lose our best songs (like "Now" and "The Time") because they are based around a drum and bass section. This band is my life and that is why I haven't walked away when it's got tough like other people have and that's why I haven't called it quits when we have lost members of the band and there looks like no way forward.

It's not just myself though that has kept it together when we have lost members and I would just like to take this small section to thank Paul and Chris for not quitting when they could of after we lost Rob which was a huge body blow to the band which we have only just recovered from 9 months later due to other mis-haps and mis-fits along the way.

I think that we have the potential to succeed although it's going to be difficult because we do have the talent and we do have the fighting spirit (which has been proved in what I have just said), and if there is one thing I love it is fighting spirit.

This has ended up not really being a profile, and more me banging on about how much I love the band and how great we are... but we are so there!
