REVIEWS FOR THE EMPIRE (MUSIC LIVE) AND THE LAST EVER GIG AT THE AYRESOME WILL APPEAR HERE SHORTLY... when someone does a review!

Riskers, Scarborough, 30th April 2003

The Ayresome, Middlesbrough, 15th April 2003

... AND A RUN DOWN OF OUR PREVIOUS GIGS THAT WE COULDN'T BE ARSED TO WRITE UP

Date And Venue Line - Up Notes
June 2000, The Falchion, Stockton Ste,Bass/Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.  Paul, Drums. "The Horizon's" First Gig. Original Material Included, Go Get, Career Move, Headshot, and an early version of Original.
July 2000, The Music Bar,  Riverside Festival, Stockton Ste,Bass/Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.  Paul, Drums. "The Horizon" kept the same set, notably the P.A. System fell over...literally during Go Get... not a good start for a band opening this massive gig.
August 2000, Intrepid Explorer,   "The Moon Gig" Ste,Bass/Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.  Paul, Drums. "The Horizon's" first headline gig. Promoted through The TFM talk-in. Support from "DJ Revay"...where is that guy now anyway?!
September 2000,   Middlesbrough College Ste,Bass/Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.   Bro and "Jake" (Ste) Kick off a charity gig, mainly followed by members of the music dept. fooling around with bongos!
September 2000, The Rocket Student Union Bar, Thornaby Ste,Bass/Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.  Paul, Drums. The band's first appearence as "Fresh Pursuit". The band hadn't played together in 6 weeks... the gig was arranged that afternoon, the day after Ste had broken up with his girlfriend, these factors plus a lot of free booze culminated in a shocking gig, and a broken toilet door. "I didn't kick it" said Ste! The Rocket asked us back but  I think they were humouring us.
November 2000, Harry's Bar, Redcar Ste,Bass/Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.  Paul, Drums. Chris, Keyboard. Chris' debut... in the days of shocking organisation and administration. Some how four of us AND our amps had to fit on to a stage the size of a matchbox. The barman wouldn't serve us and the gig organiser lost... YES F'ing LOST... a P.A. Speaker! This meant a late start for this particular "event", which also meant any audience worth their sault had buggered off to Club Kudos by the time we appeared!
November 2000, The Academy Bar, Eston Sports Centre, Eston Ste,Bass/Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.  Paul, Drums. Chris, Keyboard. WORST GIG EVER! 3 people watched us... Ste broke a guitar lead...and Chris played to a fake plant (a palm tree of some sort...ask him!)
January 2001, Doctor Browns, Middlesbrough Ste,Bass/Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.  Paul, Drums. Chris, Keyboard. The gig that should have given "Fresh Pursuit" a bit of a break...they performed well enough to finish 3rd in the "live and uncut" Middlesbrough to Carlisle section... they debuted the songs "Indeed" (which has stayed with the band to date), "In My Mind", and "Psyche" (both of which have been scrapped...but they served a purpose!). Noteable songs from the set were "I Am The Walrus" and the re-vamped "Original". After this gig the band did indeed get a break...Paul's collarbone. This meant that "Fresh Pursuit" never played again... and by the time they were back on their feet Bro had left for university. This was to be the co-founder member of the band's last ever gig.
April 2002,The Ayresome Park, Middlesbrough Ste,Bass/Vox. Rob, Guitar/Vox.  Paul, Drums. Chris, Keyboard. "The F" debut...days after Rob, Ste and an un-named Kev were almost expelled from college for posting Big "F's" around the place. How offensive?! "The F" played new songs "Fell In Love With Sting" and "The Plan" aswell as Teesside Themed anthem "Parmo and Chips" which fades into "Ghostbusters". Thanks To Damon And Raw Deal For This Gig.
May 2002, Middlesbrough College Ste,Vox. Rob, Guitar/Vox.    Paul, Drums. Chris, Keyboard.   Goo, Bass. Goo plays with us for the first time in a two song set which was well recieved by college students, governors (especially the principal!) and visitors... some turn around from near expulsion, shame Saj Kahn could not be present! Goo's bass playing style captured something that was missing on "Indeed", and Ste handled the pressure of being "frontman" for the first time with ease, showing great stage presence.
June 2002, Music Live,  The Ayresome Park, Middlesbrough Ste,Vox. Rob, Guitar/Vox.     Paul, Drums. Chris, Keyboard.   Goo, Bass. This was the gig where it all came together for "The F" Goo had settled in and Ste had gained confidence from the college experience. Chris showed confidence in his ability for the first time and put in an outstanding performance, most notably on "Parmo and Chips - Ghostbusters", Paul drummed with the confidence that he was oozing back in 2000 before the injury. This was to be Rob's last gig with the band.
The F are currently looking forward to entertaining you all this summer. See you at the next gig!
September 2002, The Clarendon, Dovecot Street, Stockton. Ste,Vox. Bro, Guitar/Vox.     Paul, Drums. Chris, Keyboard.   Goo, Bass. The return of the orB and The F on the night that the re-formed F played together for only the second time (the previous being in rehearsal). The band covered Lou Reed's "Take A Walk On The Wildside" and The Beatles "Get Back" for the first time and debuted their original material "Cry Alone (In The Dock)", "Now" and "I Was An American Spy Who Died Twice (Instrumental)". After completing the set with the crescendoing "Parmo & Chips" The F encored with a cover of Dire Straits "Money For Nothing". An added bonus... 50 notes! :D
September 2002, The Courtyard, Stockton. Ste,Vox and Bass. Bro, Guitar/Vox.   Chris, Keyboard.    Now we are not here to slag off venues, however all The F would like to say of this gig is that the atmosphere in the place was SHITE and very hostile. However thanks to the manager Steve for giving us the gig, he is a good guy. The gig went alright as far as F standards go but it was nothing to write home about...  the free booze also makes the event rather hazy... so we'll say no more!
